Absorbs carbon dioxide in helium-oxygen breathing systems, hyperbaric chambers and scuba apparatus. Indicating Sodasorb (SODASORB HP) contains ethyl violet which changes color from white to purple as its capacity for absorption is exhausted. (Also available in non-indicating form, SODASORB HP NI.) Normal mesh size is 4-8 Tyler.

Sodasorb is specially processed into porous, coral-like granules in order to expose a larger absorbent surface. In canisters, these knobby granules permit free inter-granular circulation of gases. They have no flat surfaces to stack and block, and their hardness makes them highly resistant to powdering and breakage. Laboratory tests have proven Sodasorb HP to be fully effective 2-3 times longer than other absorbents.
